Dr. K. Raveendran was born at a village near Attingal. After his
school education at Attingal, he went to Bhopal. He joined
Government Hamidia Arts and Commerce College, Bhopal where he
studied for 6 years. He passed M.A. Degree in English Literature
from there in 1966. He improved his qualification at regular intervals.
He passed Post Graduate Certificate in Teaching English, Post
Graduate Diploma in Teaching English and M.Phil (Linguistics &
Phonetics) from the Central Institute of English and Foreign
Languages, Hyderabad. Later he took PhD in Linguistics and
Phonetics from CIEFL now upgraded as the English and Foreign
Languages University.
After passing M.A. in English in 1966 he joined S.N. College, Varkala
as Lecturer in English. After his retirement from S.N. Colleges, he
joined Vignan Vidyalaya, Nizampet, Hyderabad, where he worked
for 10 years. After leaving Hyderabad he joined Holy Cross College
of Manaement and Technology, Puttady, ldukki, as the Head of the
Department of English on 2 December 2011. Later he was promoted
to the post of the Principal of the college. On 29.2.2016 he left the
college. He taught English Language and Literature in college classes
for almost 50 years.
His vast experience of teaching English language at the college
level both in and outside Kerala has provided him with the insight of
the need of the students of English at the undergraduate and post
graduate classes. The New Approach to the Grammar of English is
the result of the realization of this need.
