BEYOND THE CALVARY

Calvary and death stand as the symbol of a passing over. Eternal life is beyond Calvary. John the Evangelist presents the death of Jesus on the cross as a lifting up. I when I am lifted up from the earth will draw all men to myself. He said this to show by what death he was to die (jn 12, 32-33). The One who was lifting up to the Father through the cross will attract His followers also to the Father.
The seven weeks of Lent is a period set apart to remember this promise and to order our lives accordingly. This book contains 50 short reflections that would help to understand the different aspects of Lent and the Passover, the hope they instill and the preparations they require. These meditations are relevant not only during Lent, but throughout our lives. Beyond Calvary reminds that death is a passing over and entry into the place Jesus has prepared for us in the House of the Heavenly Father.
